Successful Sites

These news sites are being redesigned. Being blog sites, they use a big old template that requires tweaking. Redesign is generally done in one fell swoop after carefully preserving the link lists and ads you already run on a successful blog. For what is a successful blog except one that exists in the blogosphere. The what? That place in human though you occupy by reading and writing.

Our sites that are starting to grow in hit rate:

  1. disturbingtrends.tk 20% more visitors and growing
  2. AucklandPoetry.com 15% more visitors
  3. fisktanktelly.tk NEW
  4. rugs.sfsw.net NEW
  5. nelson.theatrealive.org NEW

Moving Blogs

With the queue of the willing trying out Linux and being pleasantly suprised at how easy it really is, and how much more you can get done, its dramatic. Now that you are masering the Linux desktop operating system crashes are almost always a thing of the forgotten past. The ease with which the computer seems to become less of a sensitive articial hypercondriac into a machine that does what you tell it to, pretty well all the time. And it just carries on doing just that for days, weeks, months pass before you realise it may be time to reboot...

But moving a blog from one service to another requires that you reconfigure your blog with a new host.

First of all, check your browswer Options or Preferences for any stored passwords that relate to blogger.com or new.blogger.com and remove them. If you have a registered copy of blogger this may not be the right thing to do, but if you use a free account, as one may, it should not matter, so long as you know your password. Make it a simple password - simple but over 6 mixed up characters long if there is to be any hint of security.

Your blog settings relate either to a server or a blogspot site.

Blogspot sites are great and many great blogs use them. We like to do what we like to do with our blogs, so we prefer the more detailed method of setting up a blogging host. The easy way to do it is to host your blog with sfsw.net - our blogging host (with the odd name my-tarot.com) will subhost any blog that we blog roll.

Just email us to claim your free_blogging_host.my-tarot.com and I will setup 10 Mb of space for you.

SFSW.NET upgrade

The site is coming up for some revision, and the first stage of this is that the weblogs have been moved to new servers so they can be updated a little more often without problem. Hits are growing from disturningtrends.tk and skyrocketing from our crime log bustedinfo.org.

All together, 2003 has been an important formative year with new services being made available and websites built more efficiently for clients.

We look forward to more on the web publishing ventures as 2004 swings into view.

Malware Warning: WORM_MIMAIL.C

If you get email that looks like this: it may be malware. Malware is malevolent software that is, programs designed to do something you would not do, like emailing your address book with this virus spreading email.

In case you missed our last warning: DO NOT OPEN EMAIL ATTACHMENTS. Use a website to distrubute graphics, and use only TEXT ONLY emails to be utterly safe from this kind of nonsense. It has crippled tens of thousands of email systems across Europe since its release on Friday (ie in 3 days).
