Sponsorship Partnerships
Any new or existing sfsw.net customer can sponsor the development of our products. We maintain them for you and other customers who buy into making an advanced product that suits customer needs may contribute without it costing the earth. We also have to make a living so we charge subscribing companies to upgrade our product and be featured as sponsors as well as host the products that we have developed using the
CMS we developed.
Each major version requires a budget of 50 hours "sponsored development" (meaning we take as long as it takes to do a professional job, developing using proven Open Source components and techniques).
Each development phase costs US$525 each. The Development Sponsors will have links featured on our site CREDITS page.
If you wish to become a Development Sponsor, please

In flight IP
"Connexion by Boeing" - a business unit of The Boeing Company announced pricing for its high speed in-flight internet service scheduled to become commercially available this spring.
The internet market as a whole congratulates Boeing on revaluing internet from being a commodity as it has become, to being a service that costs very little for them to deliver, actually, but which they can exert a sort of monopoly in the wi-fi sky and charge $29.95 per passenger per flight so connected. Clearly aimed at the corporate end of the market and priced outside of what most would want to add to the costs of a budget holiday.
There are only so many flying nodes available. With a travelling WiFi environment connection via a network of privately owned satellites, anything is possible. People would pay any amount to annul the boredom of 12 hour stretches and its a sensible option if you have to monitor valuable servers. But get any work done? As a veteran of long haul flights all I can say is that it takes a few days to get one's brain back into order, the best I can get a lap top to do is play solitaire. Any auxillary devices require external power. Now, external power feeds for laptops? That would be useful and I would be happy to fork out $5 for it. But it would cost a lot more. So anyone for WiFi games while the internet is not available...? phhhhft!

Search Engine Success
We had a record month with search engine success achieved for several clients in February. Early March has been dominated by host change overs that have become in a very few cases a little complex as local DNSs fail to recognise the email addresses of one of the hosts. Seemed easy enough to solve. It was one of my "art project sites" so I guess they will forgive us for placing clients first!
We are pleased that no major customer outage occurred after the initial hosting problem was established. Our hosting product is based offshore for maxium capability but local hosting options are being investigated for or high bandwidth demanding clients, who do not want to market their products and services to the world.
The search engine investigation for one client resulted in a three fold increase in the number of visitors to the site. It is relatively difficult to achieve good results but we discovered that the main ingredients consist of:

New Server
We now have a new master server in place, and over the next few days it should switch into action. If any recent updates to your website appear to be lost, please contact us and we can rectify matters.
Many sites are not affected by this change, but the ones that are are tracked here. All domain switches must be in place by 20th March.
